How to Claim Your Piece of Apple’s $250 Million Siri Settlement

Last week, Apple released Siri AI, the company’s biggest overhaul to its smart assistant ever. If you have a compatible device running the latest updates, including iOS 27 and macOS 27 Golden Gate, you now have access to Apple’s AI-powered Siri, in addition to a number of new Apple Intelligence features. For some of us, this might seem like a welcome upgrade from a company that hasn’t done as much with AI as its competitors. For others, it’s a long overdue fulfillment of a promise. So overdue, in fact, that Apple may be offering a payout to make up for it.

Delays in launching Siri AI triggered a lawsuit

This year’s iOS updates aren’t the first we’ve seen of Siri AI. Back in 2024, Apple advertised a new AI-powered Siri that could understand content on your screen and pull data from your various apps to inform its answers. In Apple’s pre-recorded demos, for example, Siri could dive through your texts and emails to locate a family member’s travel information if you asked the assistant what time that person’s flight arrived. Apple said this new Siri would arrive with iOS 18 later that year, launching on compatible iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 16 devices. But while the company slowly rolled out Apple Intelligence features through the iOS 18 lifecycle, this new Siri was nowhere to be found.

For many, this absence ranged from mildly humorous to frustrating. Some, however, found it deceptive. After all, Apple said users who bought a certain iPhone could expect it to run this supercharged Siri. You might have picked up an iPhone 16, or perhaps the previous-generation iPhone 15 Pro, assuming you could take advantage of Apple’s AI-powered assistant, but those changes didn’t actually arrive until last week, more than two years after Apple first announced them. Depending on your upgrade cycle, you could be on your second or third smartphone since then.

These grievances weren’t confined to grousing on the internet. The Clarkson law firm filed a suit against Apple, alleging the company misled customers with these new Siri features. While the company has not admitted wrongdoing, it did agree to a $250 million settlement to put the case aside. And if you’re eligible, it is now time to claim your share of the settlement.

How to claim your share of the Siri AI settlement

Not all iPhone owners are eligible for a slice of this settlement. Per the terms, only customers who bought an iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Pro Max, or any iPhone 16 model (iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, iPhone 16 Pro Max, iPhone 16e) can claim a share. What’s more, there’s a specific timeline during which purchases are eligible: June 10, 2024, to March 29, 2025.

If you bought your iPhone 15 Pro or iPhone 16 between these dates, you can make a claim. To start, head to the settlement’s official website, then choose “File A Claim.” If you have a Claim ID and PIN, you can share them here. If you don’t, you can still choose to file a claim online. You can share your iPhone’s serial number, though if you don’t have it, you can share your Apple Account email address and the number associated with your iPhone. Claims are open from today, Sept. 21, through Dec. 21.

How much will you get in the Siri settlement?

While $250 million sounds like a huge payout, the final amount likely won’t be: The estimated payout is $25 per claimant, though that may change depending on the number of respondents. If there are fewer claims than expected, you may receive as much as $95. As MacRumors reports, the final approval hearing is on Feb. 24 of next year, so don’t expect the money any time soon.
