Amazon Fire TV Soundbar is $79.99 (was $119.99), making it the least expensive option in the lineup for anyone who wants a step up from TV speakers for everyday viewing—it’s a 24-inch, two-channel bar that supports DTS Virtual:X and Dolby Audio, though it doesn’t have Dolby Atmos or a separate subwoofer. Amazon Fire TV Soundbar Plus is down to $144.99 from $249.99, and the extra money over the base model gets you a dedicated center channel that helps make dialogue easier to follow, along with a built-in subwoofer, Dolby Atmos, and DTS:X support. That said, it doesn’t have up-firing drivers, so the Atmos effect stays largely horizontal, but the center channel does real work on mumbled dialogue in prestige dramas. Amazon Fire TV Soundbar with Alexa Voice Remote Pro is $139.98 (was $154.98). This pairs the entry-level bar with the upgraded remote, which adds backlit buttons, two customizable shortcuts you can set for favorite apps or Alexa commands, and a remote finder (for when it inevitably disappears into the couch). If you don’t specifically want the remote, though, the Soundbar Plus is a more capable soundbar for just $5 more.

This configuration takes the same 3.1-channel bar and pairs it with a separate wireless subwoofer, which gives bass-heavy scenes and film scores considerably more weight than the bar’s built-in woofer can manage on its own—and at $95 more than the discounted Soundbar Plus, this is the option I’d consider if fuller bass is a priority. Keep in mind that it doesn’t add rear speakers, so you’re still working with a 3.1 setup and sound that stays in front of you.

This is the complete 5.1 package, adding two rear speakers to the 3.1 bar and wireless subwoofer, so action scenes and other surround effects come from behind you, rather than only from the direction of the TV—but it costs $150 more than the discounted soundbar and subwoofer bundle, so it’s worth considering how much you want that surround-sound effect. Also, while the rear speakers connect to the soundbar wirelessly, each still needs a power outlet.
